Criminal Justice Discussion

Please answer the following questions

1. Police officers have the power to detain, arrest, and question people, but must do so within legal guidelines and procedures. Reasonable suspicion allows an officer to stop and question a person but probable cause is required to make an arrest or to obtain a warrant. Probable cause is a necessary element for making an arrest and to obtain a warrant. Sometimes time is not available to obtain a warrant and exigent circumstances, along with probable cause, exist so a search may still be possible. Explain your choices in this scenario by describing reasonable suspicion and probable cause. How are these terms applied to police procedures?

2. Discuss the necessary elements to obtain a search warrant. What circumstances would you utilize a search warrant over probable cause?
