Please answer any 2 of the following questions based on the readings and presentations this week.Explain the Whitehall Study in detail. What is the significance of this study? What are the criticisms of this study? In order to illustrate the social construction of illness, choose a specific “disease” and trace how it’s been approached historically. Then discuss how the same illness is approached in the present. For example, the history of alcoholism shows a view that changes from concerns of morality and self-control to one of chemical addiction based on genetic tendencies. Other possibilities include schizophrenia, ADHD, depression, etc.Pick any one of the videos posted in this unit…. either ‘Sick Around America,’ or ‘Sick Around the World,’ or ‘Health Literacy and Patient Safety’. Write an explanatory summary on what you have learnt from watching the video and how it will help you in your profession?(‘Sick Around USA’ and ‘Sick Around the World’ are very informative but are both 55 minutes each. Once you go to the site, click on ‘watch full video’ to play. These 2 videos provide a wonderful macro view of how several social institutions within each country interact with one another in creating the system that people live in).Explain what are some of the technological advancements of diagnosis and treatments before birth and benefits there of? What are a few moral issues stemming from this technology?A student gets very sick the day before an exam and (thanks to a doctor’s note) is allowed to take the test at a later date due to being bed-ridden. First describe Talcott Parson’s “sick role” and then explain how the sick role provides the above student with rights and obligations.  Would the sick role provide the same results if we were talking about employment rather than being a student? Lastly, how might low SES (Socio-economic status) alter the ability to follow the role?

I would say ultimately the unethical practices used by past researchers were useful. Based off past research techniques used, we now have a code of ethics that defines what behaviors in research are acceptable and what behaviors are unethical. If there were never any unethical practices carried out, the code of ethics that we rely on today may be different or nonexistent. While I do not condone the unethical acts, either then or now, I believe that they play a vital role in developing and updating what we see as good research versus unacceptable research practices. As practices are used, we are able to see the effects they have on research, and the subjects. When the outcomes are not acceptable based on societal constructs, or trust of the public, we understand the methods to be unethical. In 2017 Fisher, notes that the code of ethics continues to update based on not only on the experience and ideology of board psychologist but also based on the current political, social, and economic climate. As more research is conducted we are able to identify new unacceptable methods to add to the list.

Hello,If you can help me please let me know. The assignment is 2 pages and listed below. Thank you!Compare an anxiety disorder with an adjustment disorder (similarities and differences).Explain factors that complicate a diagnosis of anxiety versus an adjustment disorder.Using the case “Leni: Worried About Worrying So Much”, explain how ethnicity and background may affect the diagnosis.Assignment must be in APA formatLeni: Worried About Worrying So Much:Leni is a 24-year-old graduate student. Although she is doing exceptionally well in her program, for the past year she has worried constantly that she will fail and be thrown out. When her fellow students and professors try to reassure her, Leni worries that they are just pretending to be nice to her because she is such a weak student. Leni also worries about her mother becoming ill and about whether she is really liked by her friends. Although Leni is able to acknowledge that her fears are excessive (she has supportive friends, her mother is in good health, and, based on her grades, Leni is one of the top students in her program), she still struggles to control her worrying. Leni has difficulty sleeping, often feels nervous and on edge, and experiences a great deal of muscle tension. When her friends suggested she take a yoga class to try and relax, Leni even began to worry about that, fearing that she would be the worse student in the class. “I know it makes no sense,” she says, “But that’s how I am. I’ve always been a worrier. I even worry about worrying so much!”This case study is from Abnormal Psychology- Sixteenth Edition by James N. Butcher, Jill M. Hooley and Susan Mineka. (2014)
