I need to respond to this in 300-400 words in A.P.A. format with at least 2 references

While a broken home can be a factor in delinquency, I do not think that it is a precursor. Broken homes do hold many factors that can lead to delinquency, just as a two-parent home can. There is a higher rate of poverty in broken homes since the cost of living has gone up and trying to maintain a home on a single income is difficult, even sometimes with a two-income home have difficulties making ends meet. Children in a broken home need to learn to adjust to bouncing between one home to another, when both parents need to work in a two-parent home, there are times when children may not see both parents together a lot of times.

Other factors that go between a broken home or even a two-parent home can be neglect, abuse, or even blended families to name a few. The risk of a lot of these might be higher in single parent homes, they can happen anywhere. Regardless if parents are together or not, the communication between them in front of the children can help shape the perspective of social interactions. Positive interactions can promote positive actions. Even as single parents, there should still be consistent discipline to help guide a child to prevent possible bad behavior.
