Choose one of the social institutions profiled in your book or listed on the handout covered in class and write about your positive and negative experiences with that institution. Then look to see if there has been any recent supportive legislation (10 years) or proposed legislation by advocacy groups that aim to strengthen or improve service from that institution. Examples might be the NO Child Left Behind ACT for Education, or the VA Mission ACT to help veterans secure access to healthcare. Once you have found that policy or law, summarize its goals and give your opinion of it from a social work perspective. Lastly, list one other social institution that you feel you should know more about as a social worker.
