The article must be turn in electronically via Canvas Turnitin Assignment and the due date is on Tuesday, February 11. Late assignments receive a 50% penalty. Assignments turned in one week after that due dates receive a grade of zero.

Title: Unemployment hits the floor, but skills gaps still mean closed doors for many out-of-work Americans
The article is about the percentage of unemployment being the lowest it has been since December of 2000 (3.9%). It talks about the pros and cons about the percentage rate being so low. The good side of this is that fewer Americans are claiming unemployment benefits and initial job claims are low. The bad side of this is that there are millions Americans who only have part-time jobs and need full-time jobs. This is due to the lack of skills employers are looking for (structural unemployment). Our goal is to help employers in ways to allow Americans to find more jobs.
This article affects me because I have to keep an open mind of the skills I possess when looking for jobs in the near future. As a young adult, I will start applying for “real” jobs that due require certain skill sets. It is my responsibility to be skillful and accessible to learning new skills as I enter the workforce.
