This discussion activity will allow you to locate, review, and comment on actual pleadings filed in court cases. The Smoking Gun (Links to an external site.) website posts documents “from government and law enforcement sources, via Freedom of Information requests, and from Court Files nationwide.” A number of the documents are pleadings concerning famous individuals. Access the Web site and locate at least three pleadings. Please respond to all of the following prompts:
- What are the claims raised in each pleading?
- What are the consequences of filing the lawsuit to the parties, the attorneys, and society, if any?
- How do the pleadings you’ve found compare to the sample pleadings represented in Chapter 12?
