Briefing Paper: Prepare a briefing paper where you will have the opportunity to advise a client of your choice on issues related to international business. You are asked to choose a client/organization yourself. This can be your own organization or an organization in which you are interested. Then prepare a briefing paper advising your client on a cross-cultural problem (e.g. managing or negotiating across cultures etc..)
More explanation
Using incidents are again formative as they help you gain insight into problems we can have when we work with people from other cultures. Reflecting on intercultural incidents gives you the opportunity to do this and you can use these or similar incidents in your briefing paper where you are asked to choose a client to advise or write a general paper giving advice. E.g. you may have experienced or know someone who has experienced an incident where a Western business person did not show what you would consider the correct amount of respect to someone in a very high position. This could happen because most Western business people come from low power distance cultures and Oman (Middle East country) is a fairly high power distance culture. You could reflect on this and come up with why this happened and think about what advice you would give that person in your Reflective Incidents.
Then you could use this as part of your briefing paper if you were advising a business person coming from a Western culture such as the UK or Germany etc. and working in Oman.
Organization of choice is: The Global Work & Travel Co. (https://globalworkandtravel.com/)
