There are literally hundreds of thousands of diets. The diet or set course of eating and drinking is planned out to achieve the desired goal or desired lifestyle. Some are for losing weight, others for gaining weight, lowering cholesterol, living a long and healthy life, etc. This way of life regiments “a daily food allowance” (diaeta) to meet these goals.
Several well known diets include: Atkins Diet, Scarsdale Diet, Hollywood Diet, Vegan Diet, Vegetarian Diet, Weight Watchers Diet, South Beach Diet, and Mediterranean Diet. Often controversial, they all have different philosophies and reasoning for their needs and goals.

Identify a diet of your choice and describe the theory behind the diet (how it works).
- Describe the health and nutritional benefits.
- Discuss the pros and cons of the selected diet.
- Use at least 2 academic and/or professional sources to support your response. All references should be documented in APA format.
