This video introduces the viewer in the analysis and causes of why teenagers would consume drugs and what are the symptoms that parents can perceive from the teenagers about the use of illegal substances. The speech called my attention in the details that he commented about why the parents should suspect or detect the changes in the behavior related to the drug consumption. Coming from a teenager, it would mean that within the population group they recognize something is happening. In fact, the majority of them in some moment, if they have not consumed drugs, at least, they have been exposed to. Basically, there are three situations to understand the issue. One is about the education and communication. Families, schools, and the society cannot ignore the situation about drug consumption and they need to act accordingly through educational programs, seminars, and activities to increase the concerns about the issue. Second, parents cannot leave alone the teenager without keeping open channels of communication to know their problems, concerns, and friends. A third consideration comes from the personĀ“s environment. Social pressure from peers can induce the teenager in order to gain acceptance into the consumption. In the exposition, Julien Finn also comments how the consumption patterns have changed in the last years. Teenagers have reduced the tobacco consumption to increase the marijuana abuse, but also the scale of other substance have change from those socially accepted to others that increase the dependency of them, and the issue does not mean a temporal condition because such addition would destroy lives and close the doors of future.

Julie Lythcott-Haims has made an opportune speech. It was amazing because she has pointed to many things that every parents many times forget: our children are and will be formed under what we leave within them. There is not a book, a simple guideline, or an strategy to follow to raise a kid; instead, there is a process of trails and fails to provide the younger members of our home with the tools to be successful. Despite each cultural background and family settings, among the most important considerations for educate our children includes the respect and moral consideration toward each human being, the civic and humanity conducts, the principle of tolerance, the empowerment of the individualities, and the option of an education and learning. Of course, we leave in our children our dreams and desires to become them in a better persons, but still we also must respect their personalities and desires, to enhance the chances of self-discovering, and give them not all material things, but instead the love and caring to nurture them. Love should be included at each phase of the growing process, from the school to the house, with an open channels of communication that allow the parent to be their guides at the same time their best friends and references.
