2. Apply the theoretical concepts and frameworks of strategic management in the analysis of specific contemporary case studies.
Students will select a multi-national business and identify a specific strategic issue which either supports or hinders its efforts to build a competitive advantage (the selected organisation must be different from any other level 6 submission). The answer will cover the following points:
Case studies, annual reports, newspaper and business journal articles will provide useful material.
The assignment is a 1,000-word analytical and evaluative essay. In analysing and evaluating the specific issue, ensure you address the following points:
In the analysis and evaluation of the strategic outcomes and their causes, students will receive credit for linking cause and effect; and, for attempts to quantify the outcomes and to evaluate the degree of strategic opportunities/hindrances and the long term implications for the company.
