The scenario must describe what the person did wrong and provide details about the wrongful act. Then provide evidence for what crime was committed and what tort was committed. Goal:

Your task is to provide a prospective client with a basic understanding of the court system and the various types of crime and then help them understand the type of crime they committed.

Role:

You are a lawyer who has been contacted to help someone understand the court system and the various types of crimes committed. You will then help that person understand where the type of crime he or she committed would be heard.

Audience:

Your prospective client is the defendant who is need of advice and guidance from a lawyer.

Situations:

The prospective client committed a wrongful act in their hometown. The wrongful act involved several people. The client was drinking and driving and hit two parked cars and hit a moving vehicle. The person in the moving vehicle was severely injured. At the time of arrest, your client was not read the Miranda rights.

Product or Performance:

Create a flow chart using the attached template that helps the prospective client understand the levels of the court system and which levels handle the various types of crimes.

In addition, create a slide show with 5-6 slides that explains the various types of crimes and common defenses used when the type of crime is committed. Key concepts and examples should focus on: Crime, Tort, Crimes Against People, Crimes Against Property, Defenses

You must now explain to the client in a voice recording what type of crime her action falls under. Include a possible defense she may be able to use; if there are none, explain why she has no defense. Explain also to her why there will be both a criminal and civil suit brought against her.

Your presentation to the client must include:
